Privacy Policy — StreamWave Radio
Effective date: October 13, 2026
StreamWave Radio ("the app") is developed and published by Keith Dragon ("we," "us"). This policy explains what information is and is not collected when you use the app, and how it is handled.
The short version: StreamWave Radio has no user accounts and we do not collect, store, or sell any personal information ourselves. Your favorites, playlists, and listening history stay on your device. The free version shows ads served by Google AdMob, which collects certain data described below. If you choose to submit a playlist to the community through our website, we receive the details you enter on that form (see "Community Playlists" below).
Information We Do Not Collect
- The app does not require or offer account registration, and the app itself never asks for your name, email address, or any other personal details. (The optional website form for submitting a community playlist is the one exception; see "Community Playlists" below.)
- Your favorite stations, saved playlists, listening history, presets, and settings are stored only in a local database on your device. They are never transmitted to us.
- Your local music library is scanned entirely on your device (see "Local Music" below). No information about your music files is ever uploaded anywhere.
- The app contains no analytics or tracking SDKs operated by us.
Advertising (Google AdMob)
The free version of the app displays advertisements served by Google AdMob, a third-party advertising service operated by Google LLC. To serve and measure ads, the AdMob SDK may collect:
- Device identifiers, including your device's advertising ID
- Approximate location, estimated from your IP address
- Ad interaction data, such as which ads were shown and tapped
- Diagnostic and performance data related to ad delivery
This data is collected by and shared with Google under Google's own policies, for the purposes of advertising, analytics, and fraud prevention. We do not receive or store this data. For details, see:
Your choices: You can reset or delete your advertising ID, and opt out of ad personalization, in your device's settings under Settings → Privacy → Ads.
Internet Radio Streams
When you play a radio station, your device connects directly to that station's streaming server, which is operated by a third-party broadcaster. Like any internet connection, the broadcaster's server can see your IP address. We do not operate these servers and are not responsible for their privacy practices.
App Content Delivery
The app's station directory, curated playlists, community playlists, and related catalog content are delivered from our backend servers. When the app fetches this content, your IP address is processed transiently as a technical necessity of the connection, like any web request. We do not log, store, or link this information to you.
Community Playlists
The Discover tab can show playlists submitted by other StreamWave Radio listeners. This section explains how that content works and what information is involved.
- Review before publishing. Every submitted playlist is reviewed by us before it appears in the app or on our website. Playlists that are offensive, unlawful, infringing, misleading, or spam are not published.
- What a playlist contains. A community playlist is a name and a list of stations (stream addresses, names, and logos). Public playlists show a title, an optional description, and the name or label the submitter chose to display.
- Submitting a playlist. Submissions are made through a form on our website, not in the app. The form asks for a display name or label, the playlist share link, and optionally a description and your email address. We use this information only to review the submission and, if you gave an email address, to reply to you. Your email address is never shown publicly and is not accessible from the app. For spam protection, the form also uses your IP address to limit how many submissions can be made per hour, and your IP address is included in the notification we receive about the submission.
- Saving a playlist. When you save a community playlist from the app, a copy is stored only in the local database on your device, like any other playlist you create.
- Reporting. You can report any community playlist from inside the app (the menu on the playlist screen). A report contains the playlist, the reason you choose, and an optional note of up to 300 characters. Reports are anonymous: they are not tied to your name, email address, or device identifiers. We review reports and remove playlists that break these rules.
- Removal. To have a playlist you submitted removed, or to report content you believe is unlawful or infringes your rights, email us at the address below and we will take it down.
Radio streams inside a community playlist are operated by third-party broadcasters, not by us or by the person who submitted the playlist. See "Internet Radio Streams" above.
Local Music
If you choose to use the local music player, the app requests permission to read audio files on your device (READ_MEDIA_AUDIO). This permission is used solely to find and play your music. Scanning happens entirely on your device, and no information about your files leaves it. You can decline this permission and still use all radio features.
Backup and Restore
The app's export feature creates a backup file of your favorites, playlists, and presets. This file is saved only to the location you choose on your device. It is never sent to us or any third party.
Chromecast and Android Auto
If you cast audio to a Chromecast device or use the app through Android Auto, playback is handled by Google's frameworks on your own devices. Google's terms and privacy policy apply to those services.
Data Retention and Deletion
The app itself does not collect your data, so there is nothing for us to retain or delete from your use of it. The exceptions are community playlist submissions and in-app reports: submissions (including any email address you provided) are kept for as long as the playlist is published or until you ask us to remove it, and reports are kept until they have been reviewed. To have a submission and its associated details deleted, email us at the address below. All app data on your device can be removed at any time by clearing the app's storage or uninstalling the app. Data collected by Google AdMob is subject to Google's retention policies; you can manage it through your device's ad settings and your Google account.
Children
StreamWave Radio is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. The community playlist submission form is intended for adults and teenagers; if you believe a child has submitted their email address through it, contact us and we will delete it.
Security
All connections between the app and its content servers, and between the app and Google's advertising services, use HTTPS encryption.
Changes to This Policy
If we change this policy — for example, if a future version of the app adds features that involve new data practices — we will update this page and revise the effective date above.
